EXPANDING HEALTH HORIZONS IN LAAYOUNE -SAKIA EL HAMRA REGION

Through support for the Nurse Training project launched by the ISSBP-UM6P, the Phosboucraa Foundation contributes to the training of young, competent and dedicated health professionals for their region. By promoting access to this training for young people from Laayoune -Sakia El Hamra, the Phosboucraa Foundation aims to contribute to improving health services quality for the populations, while supporting the socio-economic development of the territory.

Support towards Excellence

The Phosboucraa Foundation has undertaken a proactive approach by collaborating closely with the Higher Institute of Biological and Paramedical Sciences
(ISSBP) from the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). A tour for 17
high schools in Laayoune -Sakia El Hamra was organized to present the training
“BA in Nursing” to high school students and to inform them about the career opportunities offered by this training. Communication materials were widely distributed, particularly on social networks and with the Regional Academy of Education and Training of the region (AREF). In addition, a personalized support program for candidates has been implemented, offering intensive training sessions to maximize the chances of success in the entrance exam. Thus, in 2022, 40 candidates from the region registered for the competitive examination for access to the nursing BA, and thanks to the program implemented by the Foundation, 15 candidates passed the written and oral tests, of which 8 were currently in training.


 

A project with a direct impact on the well-being of local communities

By facilitating access to this training for young people from Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra, the program contributes to strengthening the capacities of the health sector in Southern regions, both at the hospital level and in non-hospital structures such as dispensaries, health centers and home care services.

This improves access to quality health care for local populations, while promoting the economic and social development of the region.

ZOOM on the BA in Nursing

The nursing training program is launched by the Higher Institute of Biological and Paramedical Sciences (ISSBP) of UM6P. It aims to train students for the profession of versatile nurse. The training lasts 3 years, including 1088 hours of advanced training courses. The targeted skills have been considered to guarantee the integration of learners in the health sector and above all to enable the versatile nurse to acquire the skills necessary to analyze quality and improve their professional practice, organize and coordinate healthcare interventions, inform and train staff. professionals and people in training. The training program also aims to strengthen basic disciplinary knowledge, develop language skills, strengthen general culture and discover other disciplinary fields. The diploma obtained at the end of the training is a BA in Nursing. A recognized versatile nursing diploma. It allows students to practice nursing in different care settings, such as hospitals, private hospitals, health centers, retirement homes, etc.

By training competent health professionals and improving access to care, this project contributes to SDG3 - Good health and well-being. It also aligns with SDG 4 – Quality Education, by providing comprehensive training and enhancing the skills of the region’s nursing students.
