The fifth Sahraouiya Raid ended on February 8 in Dakhla with a historic win. For the first time since the event began, a Sahrawi pair won second place in the competition. They are Soukaina Hamam and Laila El Moutawakil, two young women representing the city of Laayoune.
After being chosen earlier this year for the Sport Nature Solidaire Pour Toutes program, organized by the Lagon Dakhla Association in partnership with the Phosboucraa Foundation, Soukaina and Laila had less than a month to prepare for the Raid’s various phases.
This major achievement is a testament to the women of the South’s deep commitment and motivation.
Five Sahrawi teams participated in Sahraouiya, and three of them finished in the top ten!
