Initiative. Supported by the PBF in partnership with the Lagon Dakhla Association, the Sport Nature Solidaire Pour Toutes program enabled twelve women from the three Southern regions to participate in the Sahraouiya Raid from February 3 to 10, 2018, in Dakhla. From trail running to mountain biking, canoeing, and a night run, these brave competitors honor Sahrawi women with their exemplary determination and courage. Among them, Salka Bouchama and her daughter Wafaa Minizi represented the Guelmim Oued Noun region. “As president of the Guelmim Women’s Association, I would like my participation in the Sahraouiya Raid to set an example for women in Guelmim and the South to motivate them to move forward, understanding how athletics can really help them achieve personal growth and wellbeing,” said Salka Bouchama on the sidelines of the competition.
The Sport Nature Solidaire Pour Toutes program, which involves the Kingdom’s three Southern regions, aims to make athletics a vehicle for women’s emancipation and social advancement. Truly a project that promotes the territories, this program works to provide women with equal opportunities to develop their talents. The initiative is also a precious opportunity to disseminate strong values such as respect for the environment, respect for others, and sharing. The PBF thus continues its commitment to promoting athletic and solidarity activities in the Southern regions, with the firm conviction that athletics can be a driver for development and social integration.
