CSMD meets the Phosboucraa Foundation’s beneficiaries

Wednesday, October 21, 2020, The Phosboucraa Foundation had the honor to welcome the Special Commission for the New Development Model (CSMD) in Laayoune. During this visit, the members of the Commission, chaired by Mr. Chakib Benmoussa, had the opportunity to discover the major development programs of the Phosboucraa Foundation and to meet its beneficiaries.

The visit took place at the Laayoune Learning Center, the Foundation's learning center dedicated to developing the skills of youth and women in the Laayoune region. In this place meant to be both a space of learning and living, the members of the Commission attended thematic workshops held face-to-face and remotely. An opportunity to present the newly launched vocational courses designed to promote youth employability in  digital marketing, computer graphics and accounting, and to expose the entrepreneurship support program with  the Co-design workshops meant to respond to cooperatives specific needs. On top of this, the visit was also an occasion to introduce the commission members to the distant learning platform, "L’formation Mendarek" that the Phosboucraa Foundation rolled in its centers in Laayoune and Dakhla, since Covid-19 outbreak.

The presentation of the Foundation's programs and activities was enriched by the exchange that took place between the Foundation beneficiaries and the members of the Commission.  Concerned to know their point of view, the members of the Commission took the time to listen and to discuss with our beneficiaries. Whether they are young project leaders, members of a cooperative or entrepreneurs, all have testified of the added value of the Foundation's programs and their impact on their lives. A testimony that confirmed the importance of the human capital in the Southern regions and the relevance of the Foundation's programs. About the Foundation's initiative to support local cooperatives, the President of the Commission, Mr. Chakib Benmoussa, acknowledged that, with the Foundation, the cooperatives “have reached a level of development which allows them to reach beyond the city of Laayoune or of the region". Another member of the Commission, Mr. Ahmed Reda Chami, underlined the singularity of the Foundation's development model and its potential. "... today what you are doing is extremely interesting" and deserves to shine more, dixit Mr. Ahmed Reda Chami.

The Commission ended its tour with a visit to the Phosboucraa site to see the industrial development programs and also stopped at the ASARI research center, the first buildings of the Foum El Oued Technopole knowledge hub, delivered by the Phosboucraa Foundation. The visit to ASARI, the "African Sustainable Agriculture Research Institute" of the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University of Laayoune, enabled the Commission to discover the institute’s research and development program meant to respond to the Southern Regions specific needs.

A 3 stops tour, where the prosperity and the well-being of southern regions communities were at the heart of the CSMD‘s visit!
